United, we can make this dream a reality

Game On! clinics connect professional sports officials with teens, introducing them to a new side of the game

More than 40 teens turned out at Spring Woods High School in Houston to participate in our second Game On! sports officiating clinic.

The event featured NFL referee Jeff Lamberth, NBA referee CJ Washington, Major League Soccer referee Rosendo Mendoza and Minor League Baseball umpires Bella Robb and Michael Carroll. The pros shared their career journeys with the teens, and then shared tricks of the trade on the field and on the court! Special thanks to Michael Dorantes, a Houston sports official who teaches at Spring Woods High School, for playing a huge role in coordinating this event.

The first Game On! clinic was held in Riverside, California, in connection with the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO) summit and was attended by NFL referee Carl Cheffers, NBA referees Billy Kennedy and Scott Twardoski and MLB umpire supervisor Jim Reynolds.

“The goal of these clinics is to introduce sports officiating to teens, which is so important right now because of the shortage of officials across the country,” said Sports Officials Care President Billy Kennedy. “These are fun events that also show teens other ways to stay involved in sports and it teaches lessons in sportsmanship.”

The next Game On! clinic is set for November 15th in Indianapolis. More information about these FREE clinics, can be found HERE
