Sports officials and volunteers teamed up for a great cause, packaging food for the Food Bank For New York City, which distributes food to member charity agencies throughout the city and helping the hungry.
Our group from Sports Officials Care – the first non-profit organization to bring together officials and umpires from the pros together to give back to the community – prepared 900 bags of produce to support those in need. They spent hours at the food bank, giving their time at Food Bank For New York City. To date, the Food Bank for New York City has provided 1.2 billion meals.
Participants from the NBA, MLB, along with sports organizations employees and volunteers from FFB Collaborative made the day a huge success.
“It was such a great event,” said NBA Referee Scott Twardoski, who has worked 11 seasons in the league and took time out to participate in the event. “To see everyone come together and make a difference for the community was wonderful to witness. We are looking forward to hosting more events like this where officials from all of the sports leagues come together and make an even bigger impact.”
At Sports Officials Care, our mission is to inspire, educate and unite sports officials at all levels with the common goal of giving back and creating positive change in the world of sports and in the community.
